			Potain Vest

Everyone,I've been looking for a source which is somewhat economical, to obtain a potain, or, wordsman's vests (if you please). I'm trying to build a rather historical look, to wear to SCA Ren Fairs.

So far, the ones I've been able to find, on line, are all in the $100.00-plus category, and those aren't always made of leather. The Wool one's are $150.00-plus............ Talk about break-the-bank, for a family man with a brood o' whelps!!!!! Oh, and no, I do not want one made of vinyl! I'd much prefer a dyed heavy canvas or wool!!! Any Help, out there??

Take a look at XMTS vendor Sport Kilt. I believe they have a leather swordsman's vest for about $90.

I have one of the Sport Kilt vests, and it is a good value. Kiltmart also has some simular vests in leather and wool, but I cannot attest to their quality. http://www.kiltmart.com/zencart/inde...index&cPath=22

I'm a banker who visits other banks as a consultant. My office is VERY conservative - no costumes - always suits, except casual Friday. Last Halloween I visited a bank that was very much into wearing costumes, including the President. One officer dressed as Braveheart. I intend my next visit the same time next year.

Perhaps, or perhaps not - this may help.
I stitched this leather vest last year to use with re-enacting. It's also useful for other occasions. I have a pattern I created and it was made from elkskin - all hand-stitched. The toggles were antler tips. Cost of leather last year was less than $75. Of course there were a few hours involved in sewing it.

The photo is from last year's St Paddy's Day - last photo of a long day. And a leather vest is warm.

Can't be more Southern than a possum sporran and she has red eyes. Got a coon sporran too - and woodchuck somewhere.

Great belt buckle too, but ya learn mighty fast not to rub against it - it's like a big dang rasp and'll take your hide off quicker'n a New York minute.
