Highly recommend - Searson
I have a group that I am friends with, that I would like you guys to check-out if they're coming to your town. "Searson" is a family band from Canada.
Dad and the daughters have picked-up the neighbor and formed a band that is VERY Irish traditional. Their original songs are good, BUT...
The twin fiddles and step dancing are AWESOME. If you're into jigs and reels, this is a group that you MUST see. The girls put on one "hill" of a show, and are quite nice to the eye too.
Don't bother judging them by the CDs. Their stage show is a HUGE part of their appeal, and well worth the trip to see/hear them.
Edited to include a link to their website for appearance specifics:

I'm with Jimmy on this one...
I saw them Live and thought they were GREAT. I bought the CD and the T-Shirt (always support small bands) and popped in the CD for the ride home. It was almost like a different band. While they were decent on CD, they need to capture the energy of their live show on disc for me to buy another.

I take it the new disk is better than the first one? I got it after seeing them at Brittingham's with the Hooligans, because they were great on stage. Nearly fell asleep listening to the bloody thing.

The second is a little more up-tempo but...
You know as well as I, that they're a stage show. It's like "Kiss" in the 1970's. You would see the stage show and go "WOW". Then you would hear the album and wonder who in the hill THAT was.
There's MUCH to be said for a group that can draw the attention on-stage, and equal it with a live musical performance. Searson has "it".
~That was the night at Brittingham's when Luke said, "We just got our *&$% handed to us by a bunch of chicks."

Not sure how I stumbled on this old thread, but I, too recommend Searson. Their "Live" CD captures their essence better than the previous ones. They have a new one out now, too.
I've caught their show a couple of times, now. Don't tell my wife, but I have a serious crush on Erin Searson. www.searson.org

I've had the pleasure of seeing Searson a couple times in person and agree that they RAWK! Music, dance, all the good stuff flows from this band/family thing. See them if you get the chance.
The tradition continues!

You guys are right they put on a great live show, and yes Colleen (fiddles, singing and step dance) is great to look at and you can tell she just loves to play. They played in Kincardine Ont last summer and I really enjoyed there energy. All the bands got shorted on time on the Friday night because a previous dance group before the bands went on wouldn't get off the stage. It snowballed all evening and all the acts got less and less time on stage. When Searson got off stage Coleen was jumping all over the place. She gets so up to play she didn't get all her energy out and was bouncing off the walls.
A fun band to kick off a evening, gets things started on an energy high.
