Where is the apocryphal Box Pleat manual?

    "Boxy, but good"

In my ever increasing affection for the box pleated kilt I have read posts concerning a semi-apocryphal PDF to be produced by Barb T and Matt N. So I ask: Has this been posted somewhere? I am sure I am not the only beginning DIY'er longing to see this document.

I am ready to rebind my Art of Kiltmaking with an extra appendix as required.

With great admiration for our tailors and teachers, I remain

I think you can use x-kilt manual as reference. I just figure out most questions about box pleat from it.

I used the X-kilt manual for the pleats and Barb's book to figure out the apron dimensions. But I machine stitched the kilt. Waiting for better instructions for hand stitching.

I haven't finished it yet, but I'm hoping to get it done over spring break. It will be a companion to The Art of Kiltmaking, and we'll post it on Matt's site.

It will have instructions for how to lay out and stitch box pleats, but the general finishing instructions will be the same as for a trad knife-pleated kilt. I have all the photos that I'm going to use, and I have the instructions partly written. I haven't done the line drawings yet.

    Sorry for the delay!

Thanks for the reassurance, Barb. That will give us all something to look forward to.

I can't say too many times: Thanks to you and Matt for what you do.

I, too, am looking forward to seeing how the real artists put together their box-pleated kilts.

And I must say that Kevlar might make a dandy kilt, but does it require special needles?

The last time I talked with Matt, we'd decided to make it a free pdf download. You'd have to have The Art of Kiltmaking for the rest of the instructions, but the box-pleat layout and stitching would be a free pdf.

Thanks for nudging me, guys! I'll drag it off the back burner.

Bumping this to the top. I have been waiting for this in an uncharacteristic manner. I can hardly wait anylonger.
