Congratulations on a job well done!

Congratulations indeed, Coemgen. Becoming an Eagle is an important achievement because of the experiences and the resulting justified self-confidence it gives you.

My son is the third-generation Scout in my family; he is the first of us to make First Class, and he went all the way to Eagle. His being an Eagle has already helped him be admitted to the college he chose and get the first job he chose. No one can guarantee that you will have the same experiences but we can be sure that, no matter what comes your way, you'll be better prepared for it.

    Best wishes.

Thanks everyone! When the Court of Honor rolls around, I'll post pics (whether or not I wear a kilt).

For those who don't know, what I went through was a board of review, in which five officials from the troop and the council go over the paperwork I had to fill out, read the letters of recommendation I got, and question my parents, my scoutmaster, and me. Then, they deliberate and make their decision, which they then inform me and my parents of.

The whole process took about three extremely nerve-wracking hours, of which only about forty-five minutes was actually spent talking with me.

I know! I need to get on my brother's case to get his act together (a Star scout and only three years left!).

Not an easy accomplishment to achieve, it takes a lot of hard work. Great for a young man to learn how to set a goal and follow through with several years of persistance.

Congrats to you, I wished I had not quit short of my goal. I was distracted with other no so wise choices.

Since its introduction in 1911, the Eagle Scout rank has been earned by more than 1.7 million young men.[2] The title of "Eagle Scout" is held for life, thus giving rise to the phrase "Once an Eagle, always an Eagle".

Requirements include earning a number of merit badges and demonstrating Scout Spirit, service, and leadership. This includes an extensive service project that the Scout plans, organizes, leads, and manages. Eagle Scouts are presented with a medal and a badge that visibly recognizes the accomplishments of the Scout. Additional recognition can be earned through Eagle Palms, awarded for completing additional tenure, leadership, and merit badge requirements.

    Hope that helps,

Congratulations from a fellow Eagle Scout. Definately mention it on your various school and job applications.
Make your Eagle Court of Honor your own (ie kilt, bagpiper, etc...). I had an OA themed one (many years ago) and was very pleased with how it turned out. When i got mine, they all seemed to be pretty much the same. Fellow scouts and scouters will appreciate the variation.
