I had mine done about 4 years ago. I can honestly say it was a life changing event. The very best thing I have ever done for myself (a close second is buying my first kilt...). I too was afraid because I didn't want to lose my sight, but in fact I got my life back. 25 years of constraints and excuses not to do things. Now I know I can do anything.

Glad to hear your surgery went well. Me, I'm worrying about the coming day when I'm going to need glasses. As a kid, my vision was 20/10, when I was 19, my eyes changed and my vision became 20/20. I had to wear reading glasses for about six months until I got used to the change. About two years ago, my eyes started to change again. I now need to wear reading glasses for anything smaller than a 12pt. font printed out. Haven't had an eye test lately, but I know I don't see as well as I used to. The question isn't whether I'll need 'em, it's when. Glad to hear you don't anymore.

I bought a pair of cheaters so I can read and type. But the doctor that did the follow up exam said I might even not need those in a couple of days. Thanks to all for the comments. I recommend this procedure to anyone.

Ahh...one has to take into account age when thinking about laser eye surgery. While astigmatism and other such eye problems are very curable with surgery age is not. So I went from bifocals to readers. But I do not drive with glasses or walk or swim or teach or...

I must admit, I wasn't sure what this thread was going to be about when I first read it earlier. My 6 year old grandson truely had face altering surgery when he was 6 months old and then again when a year old. He was born with a cleft pallette. He's an amazing kid with absolutly no fear. No fear in what he does physically or in having fun. Heck, at 1 year old he was flirting with the beautiful nurse and she was falling for it

Any way, congrats on getting better vision.
I had the first doctor tell me the same thing. They said I was too old (60) for lasik to be a good bet. Then I saw another doctor. He does the procedure differently. The way my eyes are done, I read with my left eye and my right eye is for distance vision. I do not notice it at all unless I close my left eye and try reading with my right. The same is true for closing the right and trying to read something far away.

Well, they must be working ok. I drove the wife to the airport this morning and drove home. Didn't have any problems. The sun is out, so I am wearing the sunglasses. I can finally watch drag racing on tv without looking thru coke bottle bottoms.
