I don't know.. I live in Seattle, and when the punks, etc. (myself included) want a tough unbifurcated look, we wear a Utilikilt. They're not traditional, and they're definitely not whatever that is from Hot Topic.
That being said, to each their own, but I don't like them. They don't look Scottish, they don't look tough, the patterns are kinda ugly, etc... Go to Utilikilts, or USA kilts, or Stillwater, and you'll end up better looking because of it. You might spend more money, but you'll get way more quality than buying something at Hot Topic.
Well, except for stickers, man, they have cool stickers.

They may not look tough, but If you are a real punk, you can make the kilt looks tough. The kilt is only part of the package.

IMHO you would be better off buying a USA Casual Kilt, a Sport Kilt, or a cargo kilt of some sorts and then modify it to look "goth". I for one do not like the colorful bag with chains and zippers on it, but to each his own I guess.
If I wanted to go "goth" I would make my own so it was actually me. Unless I am missing the point of what "goth" is all about. Most of those I know who call themselves "goth" pride themselves on their individuality so they modify their clothing to show who and what they are about.

Just my $.02 as a guy who has been in the punk scene since '98...
If you are are real punk, you'd make or modify your own, not buy your "rebellious" look at the mall...

I agree.
I have been around the punk/goth/alternative/metal scene since late 80's and we didn't have hot topic back then. We had to make our own stuff. We frequented thrift stores, custom shops, hardware stores and various clothing stores to get inspired. It was like a treasure hunt. Without influence of the internet, we had to rely on our imagination to design our own outfit.
I am in the process in converting a cheap Pakistani kilt for a friend. I like doing that kind of mod because I can raid my tool box and shop at Home Depot. The finish kilt should have chains, studs, and uses a green ammo bag for storage.

Haha, yeah! It's like the kids who wear Hot Topic "anarchy" patches. I just laugh and ask them, "You realize that the sales tax on that goes to the government, right?"
Punk is all about DIY. I respect them for that. But since them, it has gotten severly off-track.
