Also, some accounts state that Montrose's clansmen at Kilsyth (Aug 1645) cast off their plaids on another very hot day.
From these two incidents it has somehow been concluded that stripping off the plaid was the normal precursor to any and every battle....
I don't say every battle. But, you can add Killiecrankie to your list.

By today's standards they are "awfu' lang!"
I can't say what they should be called but I can tell you the photo was taken at the Scott Monument in Edinburgh!

When we were over for our wedding I have a picture of it, and I guess shortly after it was put behind a cage (irony) to protect it from backlash, and it's now for sale because no one wants it there.

The cage was gone when I was there... but perhaps the blue thing behind the statue is a part of it? I made an inset to this photo so that you can better see the face of William... or Mel... or whoever it is.

Maybe they put the cage around at night when the car park will be deserted!
Otherwise why keep the blue cage thing close to the "statue."?

Well it's there or the bathroom, and I think I'd get stage-fright with Mel watching me while I'm going.

I agree with the garments being great kilts, and with the band's energy level being crazy. Watching them perform in 90F+ heat and high humidity, I was betting that Jamsie was going to pass out from heat exhaustion.. I bet he lost at least 5 pounds in his performances.
