I might take a trip to Walmart tomorrow, and even hop over to Home depot. I kind of want to look for a couple of thin leather belts for my sporrans at Walmart, and look into those shelves for the cat window at home depot.

I'm trying to get someone to look at that brown corduroy jacket I want to have converted. I'm having to find someone else to do the work on it. I'm not sure what exactly will have to be done yet. I'm feeling a little nervous about the whole thing now...

Tomorrow, I will be wearing a kilt on the shopping trip. I'm wanting to wear my kakhi BK with a gray sweater and the rest of the outfit I have talked about... the black hiking boots, zebra kilt pin, grey knee highs and gray driving cap. However, I might have to wear a brown sweater and Half Lamont... because of the jacket conversion issue. All that to say, I will probably be looking for the color of belt that matches the sporran that I am wearing. So I will either be looking for a brown belt or a black belt...

Oh, and I will need to buy citrus fertilizer. I'm also still trying to get everything aranged in my cottage, or is it the bunny bungalow...

My bunny rabbit instincts are telling me the forum is going through some changes. Guess we will see what happens out there...

I think if I go to Home Depot tomorrow, I might have them cut some plywood or boards, mdf maybe, to the sizes I need for the cat window shelves. I don't have a circular saw and my jig saw just doesn't quite do the trick for these kinds of things. Thankfully I have a drill press and other tools to get this done. Now that it is warming up a little, it's probably time to start working on the cottage again.

It's not so often that I go into town two weekends in a row. I'm still trying to decide which kilt to wear. If I end up going to Home Depot, I would rather wear my BK because there is grease and sharp things there... It's not so bad at Walmart, but there are screaming children running loose... On the other hand, I could wear my Nightstalker... Oh, what to do...

That Nightstalker would probably look good with the gray sweater and all that I would be wearing with the kakhi BK. For some reason, I don't do the scrunchy hose with tartan kilts, rather with the solid color canvas if at all. The reason I would wear the Half Lamont is if I were going to have the brown corduroy jacket looked at by someone who can do the conversion. Guess it all depends on whether I do that today or not, and I won't know untill later if that will happen.

I go through this with deciding what to wear all the time, so don't worry.

I now have a touch up of one of the pictures that has had the incorrect flash removed. I hope this picture can be seen in this post.
Weather Lamont pictures can now be seen in the gallery, so picture is removed.

I am going to post this question here. I have a couple of vests that go with suits. The back of these vests are made from a material that is a little like the lining of the suit jacket: silk-like. It kind of seems like these vests would not be alright to wear alone with a kilt because of that different materieal in the back.

Does a vest for a kilt need to be made from the same materieal in the front and back if it is to be worn alone with a kilt?

Ok, I'm back from my shopping trip. I ended up going to Walmart, but not Home Depot. This is the kilt and vest I ended up wearing.
Nightstalker and vest picture can be seen in gallery now, so picture is removed.

But, I wore a gray sweater with a blue stripe across the chest, and I tried the gray, knee high socks with the red stripe. I asked the lady who was helping me shop if the socks looked ok with the rest of the outfit, and she said they looked fine. I also had a gray driving hat on.

At first I was a little nervous about the socks, but I think they were ok. I wouldn't wear them scrunched down with a tartan kilt as I said, and I wore low cut, lace up, black leather boots.

At the store, I found a black leather belt to replace the chain belt for my sporran, the one in the pic. I also found another couple pare of gray knee high socks. These do not have the stripe at the top and have a black marl to them, like two different color threads twisted together. Probably, I won't combine the knee highs and tartan too often, and rather use them with the canvis casual kilts...

It all went well on finding the kilt related things, but they were out of citrus fertilizer. I will have to go to Home Depot next weekend. Not really used to going into town so often.

A couple more things I can add... The new knee high socks don't have the cable patern at the top that the ones with the red stripe have. The whole leg of the sock has a tiny bit of a cable patern, and the very top quarter of an inch of the sock has a different feel to it. That is the red part on the other socks. They're a little different which is good for me, so I can tell them apart.

Also, I decided to cook the last two porkchops and eat them... They were good.

Well, now I have about a week to think over the cat window project. I might look through my scrap lumber again to see if there would be any boards I could use for the shelves. I have brackets and so on already. I hope to also put up other shelves up high for the cats to lay around on while looking down on everything.

Wearing that acrilic kilt again yesterday, I noticed how soft the fabric is. It reminds me a little of some kinds of sweaters That would probably be acrylic sweaters. I like the wool though, and each has its place I guess.

I have to say that reading through that thread where everyone is argueing about casual dress in a kilt is a big laugh to me. I don't know what the characters people are talking about look like exactly. I also can't look at the pictures, so I get these weird images in my mind of all these people dressed in ripped and filthy clothing, and sideways kilts. On the other hand, there are all these images of people typing at their computers while wearing PC jackets and so on... Their upper lips curling in disgust at the Ragamuffen people taking over their world. That is how it sounds without the pictures. It's very funny. I think I'm OK in the way I dress, it doesn't matter much other than the odd bits of advice that help me understan what looks good that come up here and there. I did see Hamish say in some thread that the kilt jacket should be worn open with the vest and such... Now that is helpful to me.

Back to the cat window, I'm thinking about taking a set of shelves that are sitting out in my studio, and putting them against the wall in such a way that they cover the window, then putting pannaling on the shelves to create the box around the window. The shelves would still need to be braced to the wall for when the cats jump on them, but I think this might be a more practical way to go on all this. I could build a cat entertainment center around the shelves...

I ate the last of the porkchops lastnight, so I will open the sack of chicken breasts I bought last week up to make lunch today... Just in case you wanted to know.

And now my regular rice dish is cooking. I've been getting a planting bed ready out back a little at a time. It was a compost pile last year, it's ready to be turned under and so on... I just need to take the palm fronds off the top of it.

I just had a really good orange, I swiped it from the cafeteria a while back and just now (a week or two later) got around to eating it. It was really well ripened from sitting on my table forever and a day.

That's good, String, glad you had a yummy orange. That was probably a navel orange... they have a little belly button on the side opposit of where the stem would be.

Now, here's some boring information. The orange will lose some moisture sitting there, or in my case hanging on the tree after the tree has gon dorment and there is no sap flow. This consintrates the flavor a bit. The oranges that ar exposed to heat while growing, like out here, will be sweeter than those in a less hot climate which get a little more acidic. We do, however, get a cooling down toward the end of the growing season, and that gives our oranges a mild tang. Hope that helped you sleep thinking about it...

Also, I want to clarify, most of my sweaters are thin material, so I put my kilt on over those. A couple are thicker and I leave those out. The one I wore to the store yesterday was just thin enough to go under the kilt, and I was also wearing a vest, so that wouldn't have worked to have it out. I saw that a sweater thread just started up, but it hasn't gotten ugly... yet.

Oh good, there are a few people posting in the sweater thread who say that thin sweaters are ok under the kilts... Most of mine are some kind of knitted acrilic like stuff and they fit closely, but I do have a few that have the cuff around the bottom and are thick. Those are the kind I wear on the outside of the kilt, but I would put on an undershirt that went inside the kilt. I don't think I have any of those Irish sweaters they keep talking about.

I did a little work on that growing bed, and also planted some grape vine cuttings that I took the other day... They were sitting in a bucket of water, and I needed to get them in the ground. I ended up digging up an aloe plant to make room for the cuttings , and it had a bunch of little baby aloes around it. Guess I'll have to find a place for them some time in the next couple of weeks.

There's some more weeding to do out there.
