Which "Ontario" tartan do you favour?
For those of you who may or may not know, there are at least 4 registered "Ontario" tartans: 2 of which are both called "Ensign of Ontario" but have different thread counts and Scottish Tartan Authority registration numbers... Look them up!

So---what the hell!
Can anyone answer me why there are two distinct tartans called Ensign of Ontario, and another two called Northern Ontario? What kinds of morons would allow that kind of nominal duplication? Does this imply that Ontarians are implicitly daft? Did nobody think to do a Name Search before titling a new sett? Ridiculous!!!

Do you have a source for picture of the tartans? That would be very helpful.

Here is a link to the Canadian Government's website showing official and "un-official" tartans.
http://www.canadianheritage.gc.ca/pr...sc-cs/o6_e.cfm
Looks like the official is STA 6627.
My favorite is the Ensign Of Ontario however. That one can be seen here.

THAT's one I want a kilt from. (STA 2142)
All that being said if you look closely at the tartan maple leaf on the site at the top of this post you'll notice that the picture shown of Ontario tartan is really the Ensign and not the one listed as the "official" tartan.

Dee, I think you'll find that it is Ontario in the .gc.ca site.
My vote is for this one. And welcome Fit2BKilted from Burlington.

I am sorry to bring back such painful memories Grant.
Please share pictures of your escape gear tartan in due course.

This sett has the same proportions as STA3140, but different colours AFAICT. I'm quite fond of both.

I love this tartan in these hues but have not had any luck in finding anyone who weaves it. I enquired w/ Frasier & Kirkbright but they were a bit baffled by all the Ontario tartans as well. They carry the "official" one.
