I will be wearing a USAK casual in Cameron with a day sporran, kilt pin, hose/flash, sgian dubh, and a wool sweater which will cover my mid section so I won't be wearing a kilt belt (which I don't have yet anyway so that doesn't matter). So I guess you could say that I'll be kindof semi-formal. Meaning that I'm wearing a casual kilt with all the fixins. So here's the big question - what footwear do I wear? Should I wear a formal or dress style shoe? Can I wear sneakers? The whole outfit looks great and I don't want to ruin it buy wearing the wrong shoes.
Before you respond with "wear whatever is most comfortable" you should know that I will be most comfortable in whatever is appropriate and looks proper. I could walk around all day in dress shoes or sneakers and be just as comfortable either way.
Any/all help is appreciated.
A basic rule of thumb, even for casual, is that your leathers should match in color. If you are wearing a brown leather sporran, then so should your kilt belt and shoes.

It's not a big issue. Wear what you would if you weren't wearing a kilt.

Alaskan Kilted Guy pretty much nailed the look I'm going for. My sweater is a bit heavier though, Irish wool knit. THANK YOU! I hope to look as good as you; shoes and all.

Is this what you had in mind, Jock?

My preference is for low undecorated leather shoes with a cap toe.

For me the big advantage to the kilt is the comfort.
Wear comfortable shoes to match the rest of your cloths. Simple really.

Good lord! You are asking me,sir?Well, I can't see if they are brogues(wing tips?),which set off any kilt really well, but no matter, those shoes are fine.

Now these brogues are classic!Old Jock would be happy to wear these to, nearly, any function you can think of.Brown of course,if you choose to have a brown sporran and strap.
