Does Anyone Own the New Style Leather Utilikilt?
Was just looking at the new, redesigned, leather Utilikilt. They said they redesigned it so the pleats would look better. Also wondering about the pockets. The front pocket openings look tight, not sure I could get my ham hock hands in them. So thought I'd ask if anyone has one of the new redesigned leather Utilikilts....?
One of the things that sorta concerned me is they said they redesigned the pleats to look better. But when you look at the pics on their website that they use to advertise the leather kilt the pleats are all messed up.
I have one of the original model leather Utilikilts and think the pleats look better on the original than the redesigned. You'd have to go to the Utilikilts website to compare, but here are a couple pleat shots of my original model. And remember, I'd been on the road a couple hours before each pic was taken, sitting on the pleats. They still look better to me.
Appreciate any feedback. Looking at a black one...when they're available again. They're currently not available.

I received one of the new leather UK's in January, they have been available for order since October... the wait time for me was about 3.5 months I was one of the 1st ones to call when they started making them again. The pockets in front are roomy no problem using them. I am pretty big over 6' 4" and size 44 kilt. All in all I really like the kilt the only problem I had was one of the lace up grommets came out. I replaced it myself with one of those special crimping tools in about 5 minutes. As for the pleats they hold up very well for driving etc. Although I only have other UKs mostly mockers to compare them to. I also just got leather from Union Kilts and really like it however it does not have the adjustability that the leather UK has if your weight fluctuates like mine seems to around the holidays

Thanks Pakiltedff,
The "corset" lacing on my original leather UK prooved a Godsend for my blossoming fat cells.
Did UK by chance send you lacing instructions with the new model leather? I had to surf the Internet to find some, but once that was done could figure out how to adjust it for expansion.
So guessing your pleats on your new UK leather aren't as twisted as what they show in their advertising photos on the website...?
Thanks for the response,

No, the pleats are not like in the ad picture, I do keep the kilt layed out so the pleats are kept straight when I am not wearing it. When I first got mine out of the shipping box the pleats were a bit twisted but after a day or so placed properly they have been fine ever since. No instructions came about the lacing and UK also seems to have stopped including the free decal with their kilts as well

I also have one of the new black leather UK's. I really like it, the adjustable lacing is a godsend! ;)
The pleats on mine were a bit twisty straight out of the box, but by the end of the night (yea, had to take it out for it's first beer!) it was hanging beautifully.
