The length is right and a 2" rise is pretty standard for a traditionally-styled kilt. A belt would visually break up the length, or wear a sweater outside over the top of the kilt.

I'm guessing you've had the Army kilt out in the sun by now and seen those black lines leap out at you. A beautiful taran in the sun.

What sun?
What sun? Kansas must import its sun from Arizona. Might get some flurries today and Friday, so, will have to wait until Saturday to wear my new kilt.

Very nice. I think the kilt is the right length and rise, just add a belt. Love, the Sgian Brew from Rab Gordon. He does great work.
