With all that said, I would go with the wool saffron if you're not going to be wearing it outside very much in hot weather. If you plan to spend a lot of time outside in the kilt when the weather is hot, I would go with the standard saffron because of the lighter weight.

Thanks, I live here in Arizona, so the Standard might be the better choice. That's weird that the color difference is so drastic though. I think I like the lighter color more. But I looked on his website, and he doesn't have my size anyways in the heavyweight. I'll probably be getting the standard then.

The heavyweight is, I believe, 13 oz not the 16 oz wool of a 'tank.' Remember, wool breathes, so it's not that uncomfortable in hot weather. Acrylic, in fact, can be more uncomfortable than wool. And remember, laddie, with a kilt you have built in air-conditioning that you'll never have wi' trousers.

I have worn the hw in 20F weather, and can attest to the fact that it does breathe. It might actually be perfect for the different temperatures you get between day and night, no?

I own a SWK wool heavyweight in Black Watch, it looks and feels great and to get a better kilt you will need to shell out an extra $500.

It is not a tank but it is close in appearance.

It is my 8th kilt and by far my faviorite.
