No, you're right Matt, the kilt weight isn't a problem. It's mostly what Chef said, but I think it's easy to mistakenly focus on the kilt as being the problem. That being said, I'm sure Chef's kilt and kit would weigh much more than mine. That was ment as a compliment, Chef...

Yeah, yeah, yeah...you're just trying to say I have too much bloody stuff. And when it comes to the kilt...you might be right.

I figure you know how to put it all together and make it work well, Chef. I have to keep everything bland and simple or I'll look... never mind. ;)

Well, yes, it's all the other stuff I have to pack as well. I didn't mean that the two kilts themselves were taking all of the 50 lbs. But, 9 lbs is 9 lbs, and I have to exclude a lot of other items to accommodate what the kilts take. IOW, when I take 2 or 3 kilts, I have to pack 2 bags instead of one.

I'm glad you clarified that, but I just realized that I can end up doing the same thing with any of my clothing. Needing a few different pares of shoes for a trip because of changing from casual to a little dressy ads weight, and so on. Guess sometimes there's just no way around that...
That being said, it is almost always an issue of space and not weight in my case, so I can't speek to that problem so well.

Mine arrived. It's OK if I want to take one kilt and a jacket. So, maybe I wear the other outfit as day wear.
My problem is that I have one kilt and accessorise: Braemar and evening coat, which means at least a couple of sporrans. Worries if I go full formal (two sets of brogues and fly plaid).
Back to the steamer trunk. I will also have to rehire my valet. All this fancy clothing is hard to put on by yourself.
