The aprons on the kilt are reversed. The bottom of the kilt reveals an under apron that is lower than the top apron, which appears to open on the left. The photo is not reversed. The queen is pinning the medal on the left side of his as confirmed by the small photo to the left. Can anybody explain how he might be able to reverse the aprons when putting it on. It is not possible on my tank.

Think its just the photo, I have had had a problem where the lower apron hangs below the top one too

What makes you think so? Looks like a normal tapered pleat to me.

There is no fringe on the left side which leads me to believe that he is wearing the kilt correctly, I think what you are seeing is the pleat edge not the opening.
