    Ultimate Compliment

I received what I thought was the coolest compliment the other night during intermission at the Royal Scot Dragoon Guard and Coldstream Band concert in Palm Desert, CA. I had many people coming up to me asking about my tartan, etc, in the place where I thought it least likely (I wasn't the only one wearing a kilt), but one compliment floored me. I was standing there with friends having a glass of chardonnay when a man approached me and said, "That was a terrific first half........where do you go from here?". I was so taken aback I said, "Home?", then it dawned on me that he thought I was part of the cast!!!! We all had a good chuckle over that one. BTW, while there, I bought a wristband to support the troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, and since then I have been beseiged with requests for it! It's royal blue with a jagged yellow pattern on it. I love it and I don't want to part with it. Does anyone know where I can get more of them? I tried their website but I can't seem to find them. If anyone is going to see them in concert I'd like to get a dozen of them. They're $2ea and I will gladly send a check.
    Cheers!

A very nice compliment indeed, Robert. I think the best compliment I've ever received was when I was about to enter a grocery store. A middle-aged women was coming out with her shopping cart of groceries. She stopped and said "It's so nice to see a man wearing a kilt." She went on to say that more men should wear them, and that "men in this country need to loose their John Wayne attitudes."

One other one that comes to mind was when a woman told me that I looked like I was born to wear the kilt.

Yes, wearing a kilt has given me a new attitude about the clothing other people wear. I have a greater respect for other folks choices and would never say anything to make them feel uncomfortable.

Great stories. Just reading them makes me want to get a few more kilts and wear them more often.

My nicest so far was staning in line at the Supermarket, when an elderly lady came up and gently touched my Kilt and said; "Oh! a Kilt! how lovely! You look wonderful! Do you know, my very first date as a young girl was to a Highland Dance, and my Beu picked me up, and he was wearing a kilt. He did look so dashing! Oh! you have just flooded me with wonderful memories of a long time ago! I had forgotten what a lovely time we had. Thank you so much for wearing that Kilt".
Needless to say, I always get smiles at the Supermarket now.
