ok great thanks!
so, my friends that I converted into kilt wearers are going to be at my side at school. the 3 of us are hosting a St. Patty's day bash for the school in our matching Irish Nationals. We will be running Irish music through the PA during class change, through loud speakers at Lunch, and hosting a 2 hour Irish special on the school's radio station. The admin are excited that we want to do this and they basically wrote us all passes from every class because were all 3 seniors and we approached them about honoring our heritage.
I think its going to be absolutely stellar. I can't wait.
please look for a thread soon asking for ideas about the radio show.
thanks!

Casey,
I think it is wonderful that your school administration is excited about this and allowing the 3 of you to do so.

Very cool! Ireland has a fascinating history and culture, and Irish Americans have made a significant contribution to the United States, all of which should be remembered and celebrated. Could be a great counterpoint to the typical American St Paddy's cultural ignorance and green tinsel wigs, stupid green hats, and drunkenness on green beer.

Casey~
Good on you! Enjoy your day!
I'd go more casual, but I see your intent on being like an emcee.

Here is my normally odd opinion. I'm a school teacher, so I know what I'm speaking of on this one: because of the special nature of the situation, and because you are the "man of the hour", so to speak, I say, "Go for it!" - go all out, wear a fly plaid if you'd like, and definitely DO wear the black jacket and black tie. Just one bit of "tweaking" I'd like to suggest: your belt looks too casual for the rest of your outfit.
Good luck and have lots of fun!!

OOPS! AND, switch the brown sporran for a black one (to match your jacket, tie, and the stripe in your kilt).
Of course, if you choose the casual route, the current belt and sporran are fine, but not with the black jacket and black tie.
I still say go with your dressy look - very sharp, very classy!!

WAY too much.
I disagree. I think it sounds like fun. My only problem with the outfit you're wearing in the pic above is the brown leathers with the black jacket.
Otherwise, you look great.
Here's what I wore to work on SPD two years ago and will likely wear next Monday::
