well thats certainlly a 180 from the rest! and yeah I am going to be sporting a black sporran and a black belt! no worry there. now should I get a vest? or would that not go well with my jacket?

You could wear a regular black tie (instead of bow tie) with the jacket (but no vest). The regular black tie would give you a semi-formal look, but without the "black-tie" feeling.
