Kiltmaking as therapy
Life kind of sucks right now, what with Joans mother having cancer and Joan being *extremely* stressed over it.
I have a lot of work to do to get ready for the TransPac. Oh, and yesterday we found that the leaking faucet in my bathtub has resulted in a lot of dry rot in the wall between the kitchen and the bathroom. Lots of work.
I have one more kilt to make for somebody else, and it's going well, which is good. I was going to make the w2f homage kilt next, but I've just decided that I need something simple and slow for brain therapy. I have six yards of Lindsay wool/poly, 28 inches wide, the stuff I used to make the X-skirt prototypes out of. I think I will serge one raw edge, trim off 3 inches for a waistband and hand-sew myself a six-yard casual kilt to "no-stripe". Why hand-sew a kilt which will probably only have 18 wide pleats? (the sett is 7 inches, so those six yards will not go very far)........
Therapy. I'm not in a rush on this, I'll do it when I have time. When it's done, it's done. Summer is a comin'. I'll sit when I can, and sip a dram of Aberlour or Lismore and sew up a pleat or two. Works for me.

Goodluck, condolences, and well wishes on all of that. And get some borax on that dry rot as soon as you can.

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Sorry to hear about your bad luck.
It must be something in the air this time of year.
Being Tax time of the year is stress enough, but NO,everything else goes wrong as well.
My luck went down hill this past saturday when i was getting all set to watch my favorite pass time (Relaxing in my comfy kilt of course) and watching college basketball when the lamp in my widescreen goes out.
$450 dollars says the dealer and it takes two days from monday to deliver.Still waiting.
Sunday morning we jumped in my wifes Pathfinder to go out for breakfast and spend the rest of the day shopping a huge flea market over in another city.
Hoping to spend the day kilted, turn some heads, and answer some stupid questions. You know the ones.
Car turns over but will not start.(@#%*&* KICK) Forget that.Day shot.
Monday morn i have to drive my wife in to work, then call and have the Pathfinder towed into Nissan for repair.
Monday noon dealer calls- Computor $950.00 (that would have bought a nice kilt)and he says it takes a week to get one shiped in.
Would'nt ya think a Nissan dealer would have Nissan parts? (@%^%&***^%)
Now i have to run my wife in to work the rest of the week.Week shot.
All day monday an last night, we had a pouring rain an with all the rain we have had in the past month the rain had no where else to go,so it decides to come thru the brick in my dining room an i spent all last night keeping it confined to that room. (#$*&@%S...)
Luckily we have tile an not wood or carpet.
Today i'm locking the doors, unpluging the phones, and going back to bed.
Take pitty on the any poor Son Of Bubba that knocks on my door.

That sounds like it will be a nice way for you to relax.
With all of that going on it seems like you could use it.

knitting and spinning are usually my therepy. Extreme stress results in 4 ounces of wool unspun wool becoming a hat in 2 days.

Alan, I offer my condolences. My Wife and I are going through a similar situation with her mother, though it's not cancer.
We're here for you if, or when, you need us.

I am very sorry to hear about your mother in law.
I have found sewing very therapeutic lately. It can become a meditative exercise as well.
I hope you and your wife do take care of each other.
