I say, strap a good solid belt on that man, get him something for a sporran, and put him in hiking boots and he's good to go.
I think the Mrs. talked him out of wearing the kilt to his kids Cub Scouts meeting that night, though.
He also apparently is thinking about riding his bike to work, kilted.
Oh, the kilt is obviously desert digital camo. All kilt-material in that picture is a gift from way2 fractious. It's about 5 yards and change of knife pleats and aprons. 19 knife pleats, 5 inches deep with a 1 1/8th inch reveal and a reverse pleat in the usual place. It closes with a button inside the kilt on the left, and a 2-3 inch long strip of velcro on the right. I made it a tich' long, just cause I think contemporary kilts look better if they're a bit long. It probably hits Stuart about the lower third of his knee. There's a layer of interfacing under the over-apron for structure. I did a couple of things differently on this one. The way I did the tapers is different...it'd take forever to explain. I also put belt loops on the outermost edges of the over-apron, and only one in the center-back. It might need two more, we'll see.
