    Thanks Chef

Yes, I like the Lewis hose & do plan to get a couple pairs (at least) in the future. Right now I need to purchase aprox 3 more pairs of hose, so I'll probably go with piper hose (found some wool blend ones for aprox $24 a pop), just as a stop-gap measure until I can afford the Lewis & Heritage hose (Steve over at Freedom Kilts sent me some pics of these).

I recall last year at our local games seeing Joe McIntyre (of Clan MacIntyre -- duh! ) wearing a nice pair of oatmeal colored wool Aran cable hose that were really thick!
I didn't get a chance to ask where he got them, but I'm sure it was on one of his many travels to Scotland.

You can get them at Tartan Thistle on Whidbey Island... That's where I've bought my pairs. Have four total. Two bottle green, which are finally getting a little worn, after being worn for almost three years, a pair of navy blue, and a pair of black, both of which I got recently. Turndown is about 3" thick, and the bulkiness of the turndown portion is about 1/8" thick when turned down twice, leaving them just under the knee.

Is this the Wool-blend or Acrylic-blend hose?!
Thanks for the reminder, I had forgotten all about them .... and you have the colors I'm after! Nice!

    2) I'm not real big on white/off-white hose, I like colors!
Has anybody had experience dying acrylic hose? How'd it work out?
(the colors I'd be doing would either be: Bottle Green / Navy Blue / or Black)
100% Acrylic hose can be put in the dryer with no problems.

Acrylic is a plastic and color needs to be added during the manufacturing not after the fact.

Arlen's new bride knit hose? You might try there if String is backlogged.

If you check Diane's web page the first article talks about her ability to repair kilt hose. You resole shoes why not resole your expensive 100% wool kilt hose?

Link directly to the hose section of Russet Lodge:

    Thanks Cacunn & Jake
I have thought of that option eventually, right now though I have to find a fairly quick (& modest priced) option. I'm really more partial to wool-blend, rather than acrylic-blend, however I found these at Scottish Lion for $22:

    Thoughts on acrylic hose?

    Thanks again

p.s. I've been on Diane's queue for a woad bonnet
