This may well be true of many marriages but it is hardly an inescapable invariant. You may never have a better chance than right now to determine which way your marriage will go. Lie to her now, or even just withhold important information such as this windfall, and you will push your marriage toward deceit; tell her about it and you will push it toward trust. Your choice.
