Ah yes... buy it? Does it look a bit like a costume? Think I'd give it a pass unless you are into the whole 18th century look, and if that's the case I'd opt for something more authentic looking. And a powdered wig...

Does it look any "funnier" than any other Scottish evening wear to someone who doesn't know any better? I think it's quite handsome, and would make a very dressy evening wear outfit, especially with a breacan fheilidh.
Of course, once you buy that, then you need the proper accessories - shoes (http://kiltstore.net/sr_strut_1239?theme=highlandwear or http://kiltstore.net/sr_macfr_glenfi...e=highlandwear), castellated hose, garter ties, and the like. All that will add up to almost as much as the jacket and waistcoat.
Of course, it's all a matter of taste, so I'll shush now.
