    Congrats on the job.

Since it is a machine shop All I can say is make sure you wear kilts you don't mind getting messed up. Oil, shavings, .... you know Personally I'd wear old jeans at $11 -$15 a pair. I spend $110 - $550 on my kilts.

Congrats and welcome to the Rabble!

Good find on getting those old denim kilts. I hope that they last you a long time.

Cessnatower HAS posted in the past about wearing his kilts into court. Though I think that, even in Scotland, it seems to be considered an oddity.

Congrats on the new job and the option to be kilted at work. The denim kilt should serve you well as a work kilt. I use a Buzz Kidder canvas kilt as a work kilt for work around the house.

No pictures, unfortunately, but you can get Canadian WWI surplus military kilt aprons at What Price Glory http://onlinemilitaria.net/shopexd.asp?id=1740&bc=no. That could help in situation where your kilt might get soiled.

I know that the Faculty of Advocates has very stringent requirements for Court dress. Of course, the chances that I would ever be an advocate are slim (and query whether anyone would hire an American to represent them in a Scots court, kilted or no.). I assume that solicitors can technically wear what they want on a daily basis (no court dress in Sheriff's court, right?), but suspect that, like America, there is a rather strong tradition of wearing dark business suits.

Though I'd love to hear from anyone who has more practical experience.
