Congrats guy. I did the same with my first public showing at the Arizona Highland games a few weeks ago (not likely to stick out in that crowd), then to work for a half a day on a Saturday a couple weeks ago, then again to work on a regular workday for St. Patrick's day (so I at least had an excuse for doing so). Lots of looks, a couple giggles and points, no real smart alec comments (unless you count one of my partners holding the door open for me with a following "ladies first" quip). Felt better each time, almost natural, but not quite so yet. Just have to carry yourself as if you wear one everyday, no big deal.

Having come back to our apartment she regretted not having bought it and when I a couple of hours later was going into town – now kilted - she asked me if I would buy it for her. I knew the size, where it was etc.
The correct size had been sold out, it seemed but with help from a shop assistant I succeeded to get one. Handing it to me she gave me a second glance or perhaps two of them. Then she asked: “Are you sure about the size, sir?” And with a quick turn of her head she pointed to the fitting rooms.
Obviously her trained eye had told her that it might be on the small side for me to wear.
“I am”, I answered. “My wife has tried it on less than three hours ago, and she hasn’t gained or lost weight that much that it won’t fit her anymore.”
“O but fine”, she answered and looked delighted. “Card or cash, sir?”
Could it be because of my kilt? Or is it that men simply don’t buy skirts, not even for their wives? Or especially not for their wives?
I found the episode rather amusing.

When she asked if you were sure about the size, you should have looked horrified and said "WHY? Does this kilt make my butt look too big?"

Aye, as they say: "If there's any circumstance under which you'd be ashamed to wear the kilt, you shouldn't wear the kilt under any circumstances!"
