Hey, wear your kilt to the North Rim once it opens (mid May I think) and people will ask you if you're the piper. Seems there's a piper at the North Rim who pipes the sun down in the evening.

And for sure elk are big...and delicious! Seeing the condors is a special treat. Have been roaming the canyonlands for seven years now and have only had one sighting of three flying together up Glen Canyon to the damn dam, then looping around and gliding back...amazing creatures.

Next time hollar up. We even have a Sushi Bar in Page...

Sorry, for not giving you a heads-up there, Ron, but our plans were made kind of short notice, plus we went on a weekday (Tuesday, the 18th), so didn't think you could get off work, plus I was only taking 1 day off work, so we didn't have time for a side excursion to Page. Hopefully, next time I'm up in the canyonlands I'll have more time & can be a bit more neighborly.

As for wearing a kilt to the north rim, I'm a bit embarrassed to admit it, but even though I'm a native Arizonan, I've never gotten around to the north side of the Grand Canyon; in fact, that whole Arizona Strip section of the state is the one part of our glorious home that I haven't explored (& it's not because I only have 1 wife, either. ) Have you traveled much through the Arizona Strip?

Ummm, you're kidding, right? 'Cuz if you clicked on either slideshow1 or 2 there were plenty of pictures of me in my kilt. Or was that a subtle way of intimating that there were too many pictures of me?

Anyway, want I really wanted to ask you, John, is - how long have you been in Prescott Valley? For some reason I thought you lived, like, in Ohio or somewhere back East.
Happiness? I'd settle for being less annoyed!!!

You gotta go to the North Rim Red...

Know its a long way from Phoenix. Ironic, its the same distance from Page to the North or South Rim.

If/when you do go out on the Arizona Strip be sure and ask me where to find some very delicious, melt in your mouth, fresh made cheese that's half the price of supermarket cheese....and Croshaw's pies...fresh made pies....

    You would love it.

COme on over the pond and do it...life's short...enjoy.

The edge of the canyon in the far background is the South Rim. This pic is take at the North Rim looking South.

Wait! What am I doing?? One of the beauties of the North Rim is that so few people ever go there....never mind...you'll like the South Rim...bus service, trains, lots of places to shop and eat....there's nothing up here at the North Rim other than rocks...ugly rocks really...and its 8,000 feet above sea level so it'd be real hard to breathe....South Rim is lower...go there...enjoy the conveniences...
