I make a mixture of 50/50 water and white glue and paint strips of it down the sides of my tenders to look like dry water stains, and use the same mixture slightly "pooled" around the areas where I want a "wet" water look as it dries slightly shiny.
Chris...
What a great suggestion!

If I was going to get back into modeling, I would join a module club. Building a module seems to be the sane way to go.

Okay, here's a question that some train buffs might be able to assist with.
As stated in an earlier post I wish to recreate (in HO scale) a 1930s era train.
What railroads were running out of the dustbowl (lets say Midwest / Oklahoma / Texas) to California during the height of this era?
Also any suggestions for websites / books on the subject that I could research would be appreciated.
Thanks.

This may not be what you are looking for but I've always been intrigued with the Burlington Zephyrs (Debut April '34). You can see "O" scale models of them if you go to http://www.mth-railking.com/ and get their 2008 Volume 1 catalog PDF. Look on pages 98-99 for some pics and a bit of history on the trains.
Also some more history links:

The Rock I'm not sure about. Just remember riding it from Wichita to Rock Island every summer as a kid.
I'd look at the ATSF, Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe or the Southern Pacific for the years you want.
