Oops, link is to a khaki kilt...
...so how about this eBay BLACK canvas kilt. Is it a Buzz kidder, or the same as?

I don't know if it has been mentioned yet- I'm feeling too lazy to read the whole thread- but I love my Amerikilt. It looks spectacular with an evening jacket or an Iron Maiden t shirt.

I like my Black Utilikilt quite a lot, but my new favorite is the X-Kilt that I just made:

It was fun to make, only cost about $25 and is fun to wear!

Baysideboy,
The first question I ask a customer is "What do you want to do in your kilt?"
Each of the kilts you mentioned was designed for a different purpose, customer style and use.
Can you tell us "What do you want to do in your kilt?"

I only have one solid black kilt. I got it with the intention of wearing it with my hawaiian shirts, and it isn't really warm enough yet... Soon, though I should be getting more use out of it.

Everyone is good for different purpose as said.
I found amerikilt good and affordable for my really casual way of wearing those kilts.
Others can surely be more accurate and better finished.
It depends on our choice. I think no one of them it is a bad one!
Ciao !

Good question! Aside from the regular kilt nights, there's hiking/camping; walking around town; wearing it with leather to bars, which will hopefully lead to in it!!!

I love my three UKs and they're well-suited to any but formal events. They're off the rack with good quality. They're not right for everyone and they are not custom-made to your measurements. For a kilt that looks good and requires little maintanence without a large output of cash, I think that UKs are a good deal. I've always had good experience with their customer service and shipping takes about a week.
I consider myself a UK guy, but I do have other brands and am planning on other non-UK kilts.

Black kilts come in everything from near trash to the finest hand sewn in styles from the traditional to the bizarre.
Have at it, find what you like, and enjoy.
In my worst kilt addiction I only had three black kilts, UK Workman's, UK Survival II, and AmeriKilt.
Should probably say four black kits since the cargo pockets come off he Survival II for a Mocker look.
Do your research, ask for advice, like you're doing. Choose the one you want most.
After that, you'll be buying the others anyway...then you'll be slipping into black tartans...

I have a black BK, which I like quite a lot. They are made with a very modest (10 percent?) taper to the hips, and I'm not quite that cylindical. For me, it works out if I loosen it a notch and wear it about mid-rise. Standard length is 22.5 inches.
