2008 Hawaii Scottish Festival and Highland Games
Unfortunately, in my rush to get off the submarine after pulling in yesterday, I neglected to take my camera to this event.
I was there, however, and I did have a great time. Had some wonderfully tastey Drambuie cake, a pair of delectable Scotch eggs, and heard some great music. The Honolulu Police Department Pipes and Drums squad was amazing, as were the myriad of Highland dancers and Irish step dancers.
I had the chance to hear, for the first time, a group called "The Muses." It's a wonderful celtic band from Colorado. Two wonderfully lovely ladies and a very lucky gent (how lucky is he to have such a job that he plays great music along side two beautiful women?).
I had the opportunity to actually touch and handle (though I didn't try any on) a couple SportKilts, a couple NeoKilts, and a couple Utilikilts. The construction of the tartan NK's seemed superb and the PV material seemed perfect for wearing here in Hawaii. I was impressed by the feel of the SK's, and I don't think the prices were too bad. The UK's were everything I expected them to be, and now I only want one (or 4 or 5) even more. The chocolate Workman looks way better IRL than in internet based photos. The caramel and black do, as well.
I also had the chance to see someone actually wearing the US Navy tartan. I'm not sure where the gent purchased the kilt, but it looked much nicer than in any photo I have ever seen.
Alas, I have no photos to prove I was there, and I didn't manage to bump into any fellow X-Markers (I should have worn my X-Marks tee, but it's dirty... had to go with a nice Guinness tee with my Irish National SWK Economy).
If anyone else happened to have been there, by all means, share your experiance and hopefully some photographic evidence.

Did Neokilts have a booth, or were they being sold by another retailer?

There was a Seattle company called Kilt Connection selling the NK's.
