NYC rabble day trip to Celebration of Celts

    http://www.celebrationofcelts.com

Check this link out. It's in Chatham, NY, a couple hours north of the city. With an early start, it could be a daytrip...a long day, but sounds like lots of fun! I think we have enough cars if the Manhattan folks are willing to meet drivers outside the city...any interest?

My wife and I are leaning strongly in the direction of going: it looks like a quite a substantial affair, and grand time.

And this is a strong gesture of enthusiasm, considering that I still have a headache right now from last night's Tartan Day bender at Stout!

I'm on the fence myself. Why does that weekend sound familiar?

Well, as the wife is out of town that weekend (I know, you think I'm making her up at this point) I don't have any plans. Sounds like fun!

You guys won't regret the day-trip. It's a really nice event with a great musical line-up. I think it's the 4th or 5th year of the event.

I got an e-mail from Annie Macpherson who runs the event. She'll even give the X-Markers who show up a slot in the clan parade!

OK...my schedule will only allow me to go up Saturday. Does that work for anyone? Can any of you NJ folk suggest a meet-up place for car-pooling that's near the PATH train?

    Smile Celebration of Celts

Dear Baysideboy, we really are a very cool festival, from a free single malt seminar by The Glenlivet to all our great bands, If enough of you can make it, you should definately march in a group in our Parade of Celts, especially if there is a banner or you could make one up, line up for the parade is at 11:30 and just follow our clan Coordinator to the Beer Pavilion, as I am sure that you will want to be there anyway and that's where the lineup starts. Its a short march. as you reach the reviewing stand your "clan name of X marks the Scot will be called out, you all will need a war cry and then its off to the beer tent to recover from the short march. Best way to buy tickets is on line and there is a package called the Family Pack for $30.00 for four people and we don't check for DNA relationship. From NYC the best way to come is Henry Hudson parkway n. to the Taconic, Taconic to exit for Chatham NY RT. 203 once you come off the exit ramp take 203 west, make a left to the intersection of 203 and Rt 66, make a left turn at the light...just about an 1/8th mile down the road you will see the Fair Ground on your right. Gates open at 10 AM We would welcome the New York Rabble and you all will have a blast. IF you want to stay over the Fairfield Inn in East greenbush NY is our host in and there are special rates for Celebration of Celts. Slainte, Anne Macpherson

My wife and I are giving it some thought. But if we go we might stay over for the night.

I can vouch as to how great this event is. I went last year, and wound up staying FAR longer than I had planned, in order to catch the great closing sets.

It was a fantastic day, and a great venue.

It looks like it's about 2.5 hours away from NYC. If we're going to carpool up, it might make the most sense to meet at the GW Bridge bus station, then take the Henry Hudson up. Early on a Saturday morning the traffic should be fine.

Staying for a night does sound like a good option. Especially if we plan on hitting the beer tent more than once or twice. We could always have two or three cars though if some want to return that evening.

    Ben
