The DFT is also high on my wish list since I have Dutch ancestors on both sides of my family. Just can only think of it in a hand sewn, which it deserves...soon...soon....soon.

Dutch Friendship Tartan
I just read your message about the Dutch Friendship Tartan.
Did you try to contact one of the designers of the tartan?
I met Loes Scholte yesterday and she is a very enthousiastic and friendly lady.
I think she'll be glad to help you out?
You can contact her at: stevebpp@xs4all.nl

I just checked the STA database and the colors they use in the threadcount for the Dutch Friendship tartan are, "Midnight; Brown; Orange; Green; Olive Green; Mauve." Their graphic looks reasonably like the colors in pictures I have seen.
Of course if you want the colors to match the cloth, it's best to send her a sample of the cloth itself, or at least a reasonably accurate picture.
Also, have you considered that this tartan may be a restricted design? It would be best to contact the designers of the tartan before having anything produced in it without their permission.

As a proud owner of a kilt made in this tartan, it has been a real pleasure wearing it. Also the knowledge that I am one of the few in North America that has one if not the only.
FYI This thread is over a year old.

Yes this thread is over a year old and the outcome is finished. Robert was kind enough to send us a small swatch of the tartan for the scarf weaver to try to color match (her previous attempt to do so from the STA data was, well, abysmal, so the swatch helped her get the colors right the second time. I specifically mentioned that the tartan was registered and restricted but she said as an STA member she had access to the owners and would get approval to weave the scarf for my wife. The scarf/shawl came through in plenty of time to be taken with us and worn on our Scotland trip last spring, and several times since. I am ow trying to work on my wife to let me buy the fabric from the EU specific website for someone here to make up a nice kilt, but she thinks thatsince she is dutch and I am not it is not appropriate for me to wear it (actually she doesn't wnt me having anymore kilts). I told her it was a DUTCH FRIENDSHIP TARTAN, not an I am of Dutch Heritage Tartan, so I will eventually fet one.
Thanks again to Robert for kindly donating the swatch. We have not forgotten out promise.
Mods, please close down this thread, since I am the OP. Thanks.
