    MacDonald Pleating

    Ok, Need some pleating options for a Macdonald Dress tartan.

    That has a lot of white in it. The material I have has only red stripe, with under pattern of navy blue and dark green.

    That sounds more like the MacDonald modern than the MacDonald dress. Got a picture?

    Most "dress tartans" have a large amount of white.

    Just a quick note for those of you budding kiltmakers. Notice that the Dress MacDonald is an asymmetric (non-matching, non-centering) tartan. Very few tartans are asymmetric, and asymmetry can introduce all sorts of problems and complexities for pleating. If you have a double width piece, it may even be impossible to make a kilt from it.
