Oh good! Someone was able to read past my babbling and figure out what I was saying... I was worried I wouldn't make sense
I guess the thing is, I'm new to this. I found this board for my husband because he always wanted a kilt. About that time, I started back on my genealogy searching to see where this Irish ancestry supposedly was in my family. I haven't found it, but have found hints of Scottish ancestry. Imagine my shock. Now, even though my father always told me about his mother going on about Irish this and Irish that, there was nothing to really celebrate that in our family. Just rumors or talk. No cultural information or anything like that. I've done more than my family really has to truly find out what it's about and have a little "taste" of my roots, so to speak.
So, I have no clue what ladies wear, or if there even are rules for us. I know about the Kilt Do's and Don'ts for guys and that there are even differing opinions on what is worn and how. I guess what I've been trying to do is find out what women typically wear that's a little "traditional", if there even is such a thing. I can look at clothing websites, but sometimes it's only hints of tartan or they'll have the model in everything available through their store (I'm thinking overkill with accessories, but I could be wrong). And sometimes it's only a generic look and I wonder if that might be overdone. I guess the focus is on guys and kilts, and that's fine, but I'd like to know what ladies can do
So far, I've really gotten some good information from this thread and I'm sure I'll be able to add a little bit of my own tastes and personality to things as well. Not to mention a little variety, but for starters, I want to stick with something "kilt-like" for ladies

Scratchy's Lass, pardon me, but I think you look great in that combination. Son of a gun but you're also articulate and have a sense of humor. Those things trump fancy clothes, any day.
While we all want to look good, we shouldn't forget that while having the perfect outfit makes a good impression for the first hour, beyond that it's the human being wearing the clothes that makes a good impression for the next 20 years.
All around, you seem like a lovely woman, and Scratchy is a lucky lad to have you... AND... ya look pretty good in that picture, too.

Well, now I feel obliged to repeat some of my past suggestions - I thought these were reasonably conservative and suitable (or adaptable) for many women with modest tastes.
I really admire that little Jackie O. number the most.

Well, this thread has gotten so long since I last visited, that I had a hard time just skimming through it!
Seems as though there is the usual disconnect between what we lasses would choose for ourselves and what our men would choose for us.
Just to be silly, Panache set up a nice little photo shoot this afternoon. And here's what HE thinks are some good looking outfits.
Bear in mind that I DON'T generally leave the house looking like this, except maybe to a beer...errr...umm...kilt night.
We purchased a few adorable corsets at Panache's sister's clothing shop yesterday (interpretation-Panache picked them out and I bought them!).
Here's "The Sassy Lassy". Kilt in McLeod by Sport Kilt, corset in royal blue by someone, Balmoral hat with X-Marks badge stolen from Panache, shoes left over from Jessica Rabbit costume:
Here's "The X-Marks Pin Up". Kilt by ME, same corset, same hat, some sexy stockings from Hot Topic:
Here's "The Brainy Beauty". Kilt in Lindsay by AlanH, corset by someone, brainy glasses look by ME, plume in honor of my husband:
To be continued.....
Be well,

Runway Models
Why do runway models always look so grumpy?
Maybe they're hungry...

Gonna give half the site a heart attack...laughing
You're the only one of the lasses with one of those skirts that'll wear it, though Lisa the fiddler wears hers. Hers is eighteen inches long, however. Jamie and Lora are too chicken, which is silly since lord knows they have the legs for them.

I would be too chicken to wear a skirt that short, but then it takes all my confidence I've gained in college to wear skirts as short as my knee.
