Couple of years ago the Scottish American Military Society (SAMS) was considering designs for a kilt pin to include a bayonet, and several modern bayonet patterns were considered. The design finally chosen used a 17th century plug bayonet (the kind that fitted into the muzzle of a musket, obsoleted by the ring bayonet in the 18th century) in pewter. That was not my choice--I would have preferred a kabar knife design, but that probably would not have any appeal for Commonwealth customers.

There are some kilt pins around shaped like daggers and dirks, so the concept of a bayonet shape is not at all outlandish. I'm sure some would be interested, particularly those who are tired of the typical sword shaped pin.

    how about this...

I would be interested in a Gurkha Kukri kilt pin to honour my grandfather's service in India during the Second World War. He loved the "happy warriors" from Nepal and spoke with great respect for them.

A Kukri kilt pin would also symbolise the ties between the Scottish Regiments and the Gurkhas.

    Regards,

    Todd
