Soccer socks, type and where to Buy

I know this has been talked about before, and I have tried numerous stores and still can't find any soccer socks to be used as kilt hose. I just looked on line and found numerous places, but what material should the socks be made from?

I don't want something looking cheap, or too thin, but something for wear with a Utilikilt, scrunched down, or up if cold in the summer. I see lots of people wearing some sort of gray sock that is scrunched down, but I don't know where they get them or what type of sock that is.

    Any suggestions on this?

    DALE.

    Dale,

I picked up several pairs for hiking use at a chain called "Play it Again Sports", they sell both second hand sporting good equipment as well as new stuff. The multi-sport knee length socks were around $4 a pair, I bought black, green, blue, and red and have been very happy with them for casual use.

    Cheers

Here's another source. I've bought black and green rugby socks from this company to use while hiking kilted. http://www.worldrugbyshop.com/departments-socks.html

Check out Twin City Soccer socks out if you want a good pair of general use kilt socks for when you are wearing your hiking boots or for the highland games, just look at all the color available. I bought mine for $6.50.

That is the company I had received from this forum before, but they only sell to sports stores and not individually, said the clerk when I called.

I play in these in both red and green. For special games I wear one of each in a port/starboard motif. They are pretty ghastly when I wear a Black Stewart thrifty over my shorts.

Ah, I was going to suggest soccer.com as well. Great selection of socks for football.

    Did you see this:

Too bad they don't have a St. Andrews Cross.

(A bit off-topic: I love to tell my fellow Americans that my daughter plays football. Many then ask what position, to which I reply, "Usually halfback or fullback" -- meaning defensive midfielder or defense. But they're thinking American football, and usually manage to say, "Wow, she must be ..." and then stop themselves before saying, "huge." I love to see the looks on their faces as they search for a more appropriate word.)

Anyway, soccer.com is where I've bought almost everything for my daughter and son and for coaching. Prices are good, shipping is better than average, and service is great.
