    "Gordon gained his Pipe Major’s Certificate (with distinction) in 1989. He left the Army in 1999 having served in the Gulf war in 1991 and operational tours of duty in Bosnia and Northern Ireland.
    Gordon Walker Originally from Cumnock in Ayrshire, Gordon took his first lessons at the age of four. After 16 years in the Royal Highland Fusiliers, Gordon Walker became a full time piping instructor at the world famous Piping Centre in Glasgow. He has kept his links with the army by accepting the appointment of Pipe Major of the 52nd Lowland Regiment TA. It's Gordon's success as a solo piper in competitions that have brought him piping fame. He won the coveted Gold Medals at both The Northern Meeting and The Argyllshire Gathering, the two oldest and most prestigious competitions in the world. Here are just a few of his long list of achievements: Argyllshire Gathering - Gold Medal; Silver Medal; and Senior Piobaircachd. Argyllshire Gathering - Former Winner's MSR (4 times). Argyllshire Gathering - Jig (a record 7 consecutive times). Northern Meeting - Gold Medal; Hornpipe & Jig (7 times). Northern Meeting - Former Winner's MSR (3 times). Cowell Highland Gathering - Marches (6 times) Strathspey & Reels (6 times). Cowell Highland Gathering - Piobaireachd (3 times) Overall Champion (6 times).
