Or I could just decide to avoid all of those bonnets or hats and stick to the ones I have.
Its dead easy Ted.How many types of hat have you got? Two?Six?Twenty?Whatever number you come up with, lump them all together and as far as we Scots are concerned they are ALL bonnets!

Thank you for that clarification about bonnets, JS.

That sounds good.
Guess I can live with that.

Currently I sport a WWII reproduction Canadian Military beret from WPG. I love this hat. When I had my hands on some balmorals in KC it seemed to me that it was nearly the same hat as a beret, but the balmoral had a larger circumference, larger hat band & ribbons, and a toorie. Personally I prefer my beret. It has a kind of quiet dignity to it for everyday wear. That being said, I wouldnt ming having a balmoral for occasional wear.

Makes sense to me. I think I would prefer smaller toories, though, and I would still rather not have a red toorie on the blue bonnet. That's just for me, no problem with anyone else's red toorie of any size...

Mr McVarmit,
I love your glens, I was going to order that pattern a long time ago but for various reasons never got round to it. Seeing you glens jolted me into action and I have just received my pattern and am about to make a glengarry out of scrap fabric for practice.
I have a sewing machine but am very new to sewing. The only bit I,m not sure of is attaching the ribbon around the bottom but I'll cross that bridge when I get there.
I love the look of the khaki linen glen you made. Did you stitch around the top to sharpen it up? I like that look.

Mr.C,
glad you liked them, i don't have that much experiance with sewing either, yes i do stitch along the top, about 1/16 of an inch. the ribbon at the bottom edge is called binding, sometimes i make my own, sometimes i just buy it, if i use black i usually just buy it. if your not using wool you will need to adjust the pattern a bit. measure you head, divide by 2, then add 1/2 inch to the pattern. ex: if your head meausures 22", divide bt 2 = 11" + 1/2" = 11 1/2 ", this is with a cotton lining, but shoud get you in the ballpark. hope this helps.
