Just because the theme is "Arabian Nights" doesnt mean you need to dress like you are Arabic. My school had themed dances all the time, but usually just applied to the "scenery" and look of the physical dance hall itself. If you want to go with the theme pick up a middle eastern kilt pin or something of that nature as was previously suggested. Just my two cents.

You could always tie the kilt to the theme by arguing that parts of the Middle East were at one time under British colonial rule and at some point there was a kilted regiment of the British army stationed there.
I know its weak but it’s all I got.

Lawrence of Arabia
My thought was to do something with a Lawrence of Arabia look from some of the scenes "before he went native"
