Contemporary vs. Traditional Kilt Perceptions?

...Speaking strictly for myself, I can say that the Scottish kilt HAS benefited from UK's advertising. I started with a UK (original, then Mockers), and progressed to "real kilts" (sic).

I'm in the process of doing the same. I started with UKs, but am quickly switching interest gears towards much more traditional styles. It's nothing against UK. My tastes in styles are just changing.
