Do you mean a black Hawaiian shirt, or a black kilt? If it's the shirt, I guess you would have to decide which colors you want the flowers and stuff to be. That's where you would need to know what colors you look best in. If you look alright in yellow and orange, then that would be easier to find a black Hawaiian shirt in... Altho a black one with blue and white would be nice too...

a shirt with black background and blue or red flowers would be sweet.

I would probably wear the white and blue flowers on a black shirt. I have a white with blue flowers and a blue with white flowers right now. I think the blue with white flowers would go best with my kakhi kilt.

I guess the idea is to have a hint of the look of a Hawaiian grass skirt with the solid color kilt, and the kakhi does that. A black kilt would seem to have more of an Oriental flavor. Might pare that with a shirt that has Japanese coligraphy on the collar or front.

Although, I think the black kilt would go well with the black and blue Hawaiian shirts I have.

I have on occasion worn a Hawaiian shirt, mostly black, white, blue, and a touch of peach. I have worn it usually with my black UKs. The last time was for a friends Memorial Service, EVERYONE had on Hawaiian shirts, it was Mike's favorite garment. He'd a laughed his tuckus off at some of us!

That sounds like a good shirt. One of mine is made of a satin like polyester material. The black would look good in that type of material.

And I should make it clear again that this is with a solid color canvas "kilt-like" garment and not a "real" kilt.

I think there was one kilt that had... flowers like a Hawaiian shirt print on it. I don't think I would do that...

I finally have a picture up in the gallery with my Hawaiian shirt and bzk. It's also in my albums, but I need to remove my picture from this post so I don't have to keep track of it.
