Cotton hunting kilt
Right then some not very good pictures of the "hunting kilt"(us Brits. hunt with horses and hounds and shoot with, er, guns). The "kilt" is held together with 2 velcro patches at the waist and 1 halfway down the apron edge. The outside is lightish waxed cotton and the interior is lined with a nylon type of stuff.100% percent waterproof and windproof. It is surprisingly light but tough. The one in the picture is about 6 years old and leads a very hard life.I would not ever go shooting without it.
The outside.

The inside.

Wearing it.

Rolled up and stowed away in a poacher's pocket.

So, do you throw it on over a kilt to keep it dry?

I don't think that these oilskin kilts were really designed for protecting real kilts, although there is no reason why not.It was designed with the"outdoor lifestyle" in mind as a quick, easy, comfortable and very effective outer layer.
