I've often thought it would be great to have a custom kilt pin made, but could never find someone to make it.

Does anyone have any ideas on where I could get a custom pin made? Perhaps a jeweller?

maybe bear could use a punch similar to the one he uses on the key tag, but punch it on a piece of metal cut in a circle like a coin.

    pin thru both aprons.

I have used a pin thru both aprons, once in a high wind, the other time driving my taxi, as I have to get in and out of a car quite a lot, helps keep things in place, shoot the rt leg in frist and all follows behind quite nice, if I only put a pin thru upper apron then nothing stays in place, then I end up sitting in a big mess of kilt.

Do you mean it isn't appropriate to wear a tweed argyll jacket with a kilt in Scotland? Or do you mean a fly plaid? If you mean a fly plaid, wouldn't it be inapropriate to wear with the argyll regardless of whether it is tweed or barathea?

I think the reference to the Highland dancer thing was concerning Aboyne where females are (to my knowledge) still not allowed to compete in kilts. At least that is the tradition of where the "Aboyne Dress" came about.

I think he's all wet about wearing a tie of non-matching tartan too.

Try searching UK eBay for "kilt pins" in "men's accessories" for an idea of the varieties of kilt pins available. I linked the search in the "UK eBay" which turned up 526 pins.

Anyway, this was how I found this pin:

One of my favorite kilt pins is a grouse claw that I picked up on Ebay.

I'm a 3" x 3" man myself. Referring to pin placement of course!
