I don't consider myself a blade fanatic, but I had to wipe the drool of the keyboard just now.
Unfortunately, here in Texas, Dirks are outlawed by name and I think sgians by description. Maybe some of the other Texas based Rabble can correct me if I'm wrong.

Too late for me. IT has me on their keyboard replacement list. Beautiful stuff. I didn't see prices, though.

Those are really nice! But, no prices mean I can no afford.

My question is: Are they practical or display? Not that many of us would treat such craftsmanship shabbily, but some blades are meant to be used & others looked at.

Sgians dhu have blades less than 6" long and are legal. You can carry a dirk in scabbard at Ren Fests and at formal dinners/occasions, but I wouldn't attempt to wear a dirk into a pub or restaurant.

I concur! Those are gorgeous and mouth-watering blades. I bookmarked for future reference. Thanks for the reference, Woodsheal.

Are Sgians dhu sharp on both sides? If so, wouldn't they fall under the "dagger" description even with a short blade length?

Most commercial Sgians don't even come with an edge on them these days. I've never seen one with two sharpened edges.
