My wife looked at our balance this morning. Seems we have more $$ than we did last night. We've asked each other what we should do with it but haven't come up with anything .... yet.

Well, since the government wants us to use it to stimulate the economy and we need to do it quickly, and you don't know what to do with it yet, send it to me. We need to get this stimulation going and I'll handle it for you.

Hmmm...I had your address right here but don't find it right now. Oh well, I guess I'd better spend it instead. My wife has mentioned a new laptop since the screen on ours doesn't work, I'm thinking a new kilt for me and a kilted skirt for her. We'll see.

It's being done according to the last two digits of your social security number. Since mine are "00", I got mine right after I got my tax refund.
Not to potential identity thieves - there are 10,000,000 possible social security numbers ending in 00.

On the subject of identity thieves, the latest scam involves the encentive checks. A email claiming to be from the IRS asks you to give your account number to verify your deposit.
The IRS would not do it this way, and it's never a good idea to give out that kind of information. You would likely find your bank account wiped out.
Be aware.

I received mine already... most of it has already been spent. The rest is going to purchase a new external filter for my pond, that is on order. Had it saved before.. but car died and had to purchase a new to me car, so I used what I had saved for a down payment.

I mailed in my tax filing with a hefty payment. With my SS# last digits being 89, I'm sure it will be a while longer. Broke a tooth last week so it will go to paying for a crown.

Ours will be put aside for next winter's heating oil, so we're not worrying about getting it soon. If it weren't for the "no politics" rule, I'd have a few things to say about this deal.

Welcome to my world when I was a park ranger.
One of our LE rangers used to point this out to some of the more irate tourists he would meet -- the conversation would usually begin -- "I'm a taxpayer & I pay your salary!" He would reply, "So am I -- and I never get ahead, because my taxes pay my salary!"
