Yeah, my BK's have the D-rings (or square-rings as the case may be) but also right below them are two passages where a solid belt could pass through. Those are much snugger and will also hold the sporran closer to your body than the D-rings.
Usually when I sit I pull the sporran off to one side and let it hang on the hip so it's easier to get into and it's not lying on my lap all night. Then when I stand up just pull it back to the front. For me, proper sporran hight is high enough to be off my thighs when I walk without rubbing the bottom of the belt buckle. If that is 1/2" between buckle and sporran I'm fine with that as long as my legs move relatively freely. Usually it's about 3" or so.

Aye, I like being able to move the position of the sporran, without having to rotate the entire sporran belt. Much more convenient.

Here is a photo of the back of the sporran with my sporran suspenders attached:

That's entirely different from my Buzz Kidder. I've got the same model, but it also has a place to run a strap through.

Wierd... Buzz changed the design, in the last few years, it would seem.
Here's a picture of my Dad's Buzz Kidder (I took a picture of his, rather than mine, because I have completely removed the D-rings from both of mine). You can check out the old-school leather loops:
It would actually be pretty easy to add a couple of loops onto the back. All you'd need are four rivets, a hole punch. and a couple of strips of black leather!
Note: My Dad uses the same suspenders as you do. He actually prefers them to a sporran belt.

I was just thinking that when I saw the picture you posted.

Yep, I'd be willing to bet that making a couple of loops would completely aleviate the sporran migration problem.

Thanks for posting the pictures, now it all makes sense. Well, BK's design change doesn't necessarily make sense to me... I have yet another version, similar to cavscouts, with the channel left open for passage of a belt.
Your posing the question has opened up all sorts of discussion and DIY ideas. That's why I enjoy this forum so!

Might I suggest that you take the sporran belt and mark off the area in which it rides normal for you...
...and then take silicone gasket sealer and place a small dot on the back of the sporran, right between the straps...
...and then coat the belt about 1/2" to 3/4" wider than the sporran straps are.
This should give a nice grip between the two and allow you to slide the sporran when you need to.
