Knife Pleated Denim, and dumb t-shirt

I actually made this kilt a while ago, and even wore it to the last (although tiny) NY kilt night. It's a fairly simple knife pleated denim kilt. I added a hanging pocket in the front, a key chain, and a buckle on the right to secure the apron.

I didn't have enough material to do a serious pleat job, so the kilt only has 12 pleats each about 1.5 inches wide. They're not really deep enough, so next time I think I'll buy at least 5 yards of fabric and give it some swing.

I'll try to get a picture of the pleats the next time I wear it.

    Here it is:

I also made up a t-shirt on Zazzle for those days I'm feeling a bit aggressive in my kilt wearing mentality. You can get your own through my blog if you want one, or you can simply make one yourself via any of the online stores. This one is nice because it's an American Apparel t-shirt which means it's well made, and fits well.

What you failed to mention, Ben, is that you have contrasting material WITHIN the pleat. So when you walked, the pleat effect was quite visible!

Actually not on this kilt. This is just a simple knife pleated kilt in solid denim.

Although I did add a pocket for my phone on the one you're talking about!

Thanks Dirk! I'm really happy with it. I'm especially happy that I work in a place where I can wear whatever I like.

As for numbers, I've made 3. One basic x-kilt, one denim x-kilt with the tartan lining in the pleats, then this plain denim knife pleat.

My next project is to create a steampunk kilt. Any suggestions? :-D

You can order one through my blog at http://kiltme.com
On the right hand side it says "Down with zippers, up with kilts" and there's a picture of a guy wearing the shirt. If you click that it will take you to zazzle where I had it made.

Having seen a steampunk kilt just recently, I like the "razor" edge, where thin strips of metal, just about aluminum can type, are sewn to the edge of the pleats. Anyone else noticed the rise in steampunk?
