I took Barb's advice and bought some Dual Duty XP thread at Joann's - it was $1.79 for a 125 yard spool (they had a 50% off sale so I bought 4, my total was $3.56). I have been using this stuff for a couple of hours on a kilt and it is so much better than the cotton covered polyester that I was using.
makes me a little sad, because I thought that was what you guys were talking about, and I have finished product Pendletons only.
Me too. We used to be able to buy a lot of nice fabric, I even got MacLaine of Lochbuie tartan in a wash wool, about 25 years ago. (I still have the shirts). Now all the mills have closed down, the owners have nearly all gone offshore. The stores that sold the overage have just about disappeared. Mary Jo's in Gastonia , NC is the only one I know of that is left hereabouts, and that is a about a 3+hour drive away.
