    Victoria, B.C. Tartan Parade

Our Tartan Parade was held last Saturday. This is a promotional event for the Highland Games coming up on the Victoria Day long weekend.
For my brother and I, it was our first opportunity to march with our band. We both are fairly newbie pipers, and we had joined the Greater Victoria Police Pipe Band last September. At the Tartan Parade, we were part of the massed bands (6 or 7 bands, I think). Here are some pics.

Rob and I before the event.

Warming up in the circle at Centennial Square.

Getting ready to march off. That's me above the "G" in Highland.

A short prayer that I don't screw up too badly.

    We're off!

    More to come.

Heading down Government Street toward the Parliament Buildings.

    On to the causeway.

    With the photographer (my daughter).

Whew! It's all over! With Alison and my wife Anna.

Our pipe major called it "half a parade", which it was. It was still a good way to get our feet wet. We were all treated to hot dogs and beer by the Victoria Highland Games Association after the event. We got our picture in the paper as well. I'm looking forward to the games this weekend!

See...that was easy! Looking sharp and making me miss Victoria even more than I usually do. How I wish I could just hop a plane and attend the Games!

If you played half as well as you looked, I bet it was a hit!

Your lady looks great, as always, and your daughter is a heartbreaker!

Great pics, it is always nice to see views of Victoria again. Would love to come back there again some day.

Great pics! Very interesting jackets that your pipe band wears - presume they are from an old uniform style.

You should be proud. You look great. With massed pipes I probably could have faked it in the middle somewhere...but I'm guessing you guys were right on key.
