Thanks for the advice! As soon as I'm done with the repairs on the DukeofKilardy's kilt, JC's will be underway.
And as I was talking about these kilts with Bridget and Heather at the pub on Friday, one of the other regulars overheard us and went "You make kilts?" "I'm learning how," I replied.
The upshot is that when he gets the money together for the fabric, he wants me to make him a kilt. YIKES, that wasn't in the plan, but he is a LEO and knew my late husband professionally (Walt was with the KS Highway Patrol for 19 of the 21 years we were married). So I will try to make Barb proud of me *G*.
I will certainly earmark my vacation time next year for kilt kamp if I'm going to be doing more than one or two of these!

You might also think about pleating to alternating pivots. I have a Ross hunting done that way, and it looks great. You could have a red and blue thing going on in the back, and all of your pleats would remain the same depth.
