I have punk roots but like Flogging Molly much more than DKM. I like that Dave King is still angry and not afraid to sing about his own issues & stupidity. They have alot of depth and the latest CD shows that well.

I would add that FM's tendencies to traditional styles with the punk edge are what got me.

I think that's why I like it so much.

That's why I love the Street Dogs. Most of the "anger and issues" left DKM with Mike McColgan.

I agree that Measnest is very dark, which is probably why I don't like it as much. I'm more of an upbeat kinda guy, which is why I love DKM so much, their music is all about partying, having a good time, getting drunk, and just being together. I like Flogging Molly too, but still DKM holds my heart as the best band out there these days, b/c lets be honest, most new bands really really suck. I thank God that bands like DKM and FM still exist. Oh, and is there any Real McKenzies fans in here? They rock too.

DKM and FM are definitely 2 of my favorite bands.

Currently I've been listening to The Tossers a bunch. I don't care how much you love a band, you have to have other choices or you'll eventually not appreciate it as much.

I love the Tossers, I saw them open for DKM a couple of years ago, and they rock too. Blood or Whiskey is awesome, and I'm also a big fan of the Pogues and the Wolfe Tones.

The Tossers are great. I caught them twice when they were on tour with the Street Dogs.

Tony Duggins pour a beer down my back the first night, but was very pleasant to talk to the second night, when we was slightly less inebriated.

If you ever see Aaron Duggins (their tin whistle player) in a grey flat cap, he got that from me. I traded him for the last t-shirt they had in my size.

Yes, The Real MacKenzies are great! I love their version of "Farewell Nova Scotia!"
